A Look Inside the Farm

  • University of Michigan Aquaponics

We’re opening up our certified organic farming space—including cabins, hoop houses, and our full aquaponics system—completely free of charge to the incredible University of Michigan Aquaponics Team.

This is more than just a donation—it’s an investment in the future of sustainable agriculture and in the next generation!

From day one, RHF has stood for two things: innovation in farming and hands-on learning that lifts our local community. Partnering with these passionate students brings both to life in a big way.

Looking ahead, we’ll be working side-by-side with the team to grow the program, expand food access, and hopefully relaunch our beloved CSA. (Yes—fresh veggies + fish may be coming back soon!)

  • Hoop Houses

    Hoop Houses

Once home to livestock, our hoop houses are now being reimagined as thriving hubs for sustainable agriculture. In partnership with the University of Michigan Aquaponics Team, these structures will be used to explore innovative growing systems that combine aquaculture and hydroponics. This collaboration brings cutting-edge research and student-led passion to Robin Hills Farm, transforming our hoop houses into spaces of learning, experimentation, and community engagement. Together, we're cultivating not just crops—but the future of farming.

  • Mushroom Forest

Nestled within our wooded landscape, the Mushroom Forest is a peaceful, shaded area where we’re cultivating a unique space for fungi to flourish. This project blends nature, education, and sustainability—and we’re just getting started. We're currently looking for passionate individuals interested in helping us grow and shape this special part of the farm. If you're curious about mushrooms, forest ecology, or hands-on growing, we'd love to hear from you. Reach out to us at contact@robinhillsfarm.com to get involved.

Stewards of the land

Robin Hills Farm is an agriculture, education, and event center nestled in the rolling hills of Sylvan Township, just outside Chelsea, Michigan. Founded in 2014, we exist to nurture our community and the land we live on through hands-on experiences, sustainable practices, and meaningful connections.

In the past, we ran our own CSA program for two and a half years, offering fresh, local produce to our community. Later, we partnered with Hay Creek Heritage Farms, continuing to strengthen our commitment to local agriculture. We’ve hosted their sheep and goats on our land, cultivated a mushroom forest, implemented an aquaponics system, and even stocked our ponds with trout to explore sustainable food production. Our farm-to-table meals and events have showcased locally sourced ingredients, and we’ve welcomed schools, families, and community groups for educational field trips, kids’ camps, classes, and workshops that connect people to farming and nature.

Looking ahead, we are focusing our efforts to cultivate gardens and vibrant flower fields, not only to enhance the landscape but to provide fresh, local produce and florals for all who visit the farm. We plan to host farmers markets that connect the community with local growers and artisans while continuing to use our sustainable land for both private celebrations and public events. We’re also exploring the idea of a community garden to further connect people with the land. By blending agriculture with hospitality, we’re creating a space where people can gather, celebrate, and engage with the land in a meaningful way.
