Weekly Nature Trail Hikes

Thanks to rainy conditions on the day of our Robin Run event, fanfare was somewhat dampened for our brand-new, freshly completed nature trail system. But here at Robin Hills Farm, we don’t let a little rain stop us! We’ve been celebrating the new trails every Saturday, inviting the public out for free hikes around our beautiful 129-acre property as fall colors really hit their peak. We’ve got a pretty special selection of pure Michigan ecosystems out here, from tamarack swamps to hardwood forests, so the variety of leaf shapes and colors around the farm this time of year is, in our opinion, something quite special :)

Our fourth hike was this past weekend, and we couldn’t have been happier with the turnout each time thus far. Here at Robin Hills Farm, we take pride in having something to offer for everyone, and the range of age groups who come out for our tours and events suggests that we’re on the right track there. This week, we were joined by two groups of young folks from Chelsea High School -- the Writing Club and Arbor Club. In general, however, we’re noticing a high proportion of families with small children on these hikes. And what could be better? Giving kids a place to romp around, to connect with nature, to see things around the farm that are completely new to them and maybe even to learn something -- this, we feel, is one of the highest goals of what we’re doing here.

We will continue to host these hikes every Saturday at 10am, meeting up in the parking lot, for as long as the weather allows. Keep an eye out on our Facebook page for special hikes, like dog walks and stroller hikes!
